PeaceChurch is a fledgling ecumenical group in Perth's western suburbs.
PeaceChurch has been created to enable peace sojourners to gather together to explore various issues relating to violence and non-violent responses to a growing tendancy towards viloence in our society and within the environment.
By looking inwardly and exploring our own attitude to violence/non-violence and relating that to the violence that exists all around us, we hope to enable a spiritual non-violent repsonse to conflict in our own lives and in the wider community.
Coming as a response to the Decade Against Violence, PeaceChurch is a pilot project initiated and supported by the Council of Churches in WA and instigated by Churches of Christ Wembley Downs.
As a pilot project, we have much to learn and discover. As well as our irregular meetings, it is hoped that this website will form a catalyst for the ongoing research and development into non-violent responses to violent situations and peaceful resolution to conflict.
We hope that this journey will be inter-demoninational and look forward to an inter- faith dimension.
We make no apology for any political comment on this site or in our meetings. We firmly believe that faith, religion (the practice of faith), politics (the practice of belief), spirituality, respect, tolerance and peace are inextricably bound together, so any exploration of one must therefore involve all the others. At times there may appear to be differences in one or more of these inter-connecting spheres. These differences can often be the means by which we explore our faith and spirituality and further our understanding of the nature of God in our midst.
Anyone who egages in discusion and discovery through PeaceChurch in all its forms must therefore commit to engaging in a manner which reflects and refracts the true nature of God, and therefore engages in a tolerant and respectful manner.
This website is currently under construction as indeed is our PeaceChurch. Any feedback and participation is most welcome.
We hope that you will join us on this journey of discovery, which we trust will be graced and embraced by the love of God.
